Get yourself ready - make the right impression
So you're ready to come along to Beacon BNI - great! Your first meeting can be a little daunting, but don't worry, we'll be there to help you out on the day.
It might be a good idea to get yourself ready for the meeting before hand, so here's a handy to do list to help you prepare:
- Read up on BNI, and what we're all about here
- Get plenty of business cards ready - you'll need to hand them out on the day
- Got fliers? Great bring those too - bring more than you think you'll need, we may want to pass them on to other people...
- Everybody at the meeting has a 60-second slot to pitch their business. Remember: don't sell to us, tell us how to sell for you! Here's a handy template for a wining 60-second pitch!
- Do you know where your going? Please check directions before you set off! Get our address details and a map here
- Talk to us! Any questions? Contact us, or the person who invited you
- Don't feel pressured to pass referrals on the day... but if you ca that is great. Find out more about us before hand here - you may be able to help us
On the Day - The Agenda
We start promptly at 7am - but normally members begin arriving from 6:45am. The earlier you come, the more networking you can do!
- Open Networking
- Welcome everyone, introduce Team Leaders
- Purpose and Overview of BNI
- Networking Education
- Announce Business Network "Leaders" (beginning of each month)
- Pass business cards
- Welcome any new BNI members to the organisation (induct new members)
- Members introduce themselves and give 60-second presentation
- Welcome visitors to BNI and have members introduce them (visitors give 60-second presentation)
- Membership Coordinator's Report
- Membership Committee Report
- Treasurer announces rota of speakers for next six weeks and introduces this week's speaker(s)
- Speaker(s) gives 10-12 minute presentation
- Pass referrals
- Treasurer's Report
- Announcements and reminders
- Door prize draw: for members bringing visitors or referrals
- Close meeting
- Conduct new member orientation
- Conduct visitor orientations
